Connection between local and remote computers can be established in 3 ways:
· | IP-address Connection: Using IP address or DNS name.
· | Online Account Connection: Connection to a remote PC is established over the Internet without a need to configure/open ports on routers and firewalls. Online Account Connection can be set up using the name of the remote PC (IP address is not used).
· | Computer ID Connection: Allows you to connect to your partner's PC using remote computer ID and password. The easiest connection way!
IP-address Connection mode
IP-address Connection mode enables you to connect to a remote computer using its IP address or a DNS name. This connection mode allows you to remotely control PC's in any environment LAN, WAN and/or over the Internet.
For a successful connection, the Host PC should have a static external IP address and proper firewall or router configurations.
If both computers are located in the same LAN, there is no need to know the IP address of the remote computer. You may simply select a computer from your "Network Places" list.
Online Account Connection mode
This mode is designed to provide access to remote PC's when a IP-address Connection is unavailable. It serves as a primary connection solution. Online Account Connection mode offers the following features:
· | Remote access to computers over the Internet that don't have external static IP addresses. You can easily connect to computers with internal (192.168.x.x) or dynamic IP addresses without any network configuration. You can connect to a remote PC using the Online Account name and computer nickname instead of the IP address.
· | By using the Online Account Connection you can easily connect to computers over the Internet securely bypassing corporate routers and firewalls.
How Online Account Connection mode works (see diagram...):
Anyplace Control vendors can provide you with the Online Account Connection service that enables you to work through the online Account.
Your Host and Administrator computers connect over the Internet to the Anyplace Control gateway server using https protocol (port 443) to maintain a constant secure connection. Hardware firewalls and routers do not block such connections.
After the connection with the server is successfully established, you can connect from the Admin computer to the Host through the Gateway Server, which acts as a mediator (proxy) during the connection session. Online Account Connection is the perfect solution to any connection issue associated with unavailable remote IP addresses or difficulties with router/ firewall configuration.
